One of our volunteers, Nimmi, is spending her lockdown days, raising awareness on sanitary and menstrual hygiene at her native community.
Girls and women in rural areas have very less, or no knowledge about the fatal infections caused due to the lack of proper hygiene maintenance at the time of period. They hide the used cloths to dry in a shady place and reuse them without considering the consequences. They prefer clothes to sanitary napkins because buying or asking someone to get them the sanitary napkins, is shaming and embarrassing, which ultimately incur them to face complicated health issues.
Nimmi is spreading awareness among the girls of her age to normalize this phenomenon and leading them to pursue a healthy and happy life. KHEA foundation is supporting this cause by providing sanitary napkins and correct information to mitigate the health risk.
